Deck Skirting for CO’s Front Range

Deck skirting is installed under the deck structure and is designed to cover the underside so you can’t see underneath the deck, thus making the deck more attractive. Even just a couple of years ago, we were seldom asked about “deck skirting” and we installed it even less. Today, skirting products are manufactured for this specific purpose, which tells you that skirting has become common on a national level, not just locally.

Cedar lattice is the most common skirting material installed under a deck. Vinyl lattice is available in home centers, although there’s a limited supply of colors and the quality is questionable.

Other skirting options include siding and even decking. Whatever is used, you should keep in mind that if you’re trying to keep rodents from getting under your deck, it’s virtually impossible to do so. You could, however, create the perfect environment for a rodent, while preventing its natural predators from taking care of the problem for you.
